Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the AsterSearch hosted service. By signing up you agree to them.

Operator note: this is a template suitable for a small SaaS, written in plain English. Have it reviewed by your jurisdiction's counsel before launch — it is not legal advice.

1. The service

AsterSearch provides hosted search infrastructure: full-text, vector and hybrid search APIs, ingestion pipelines, an operator console and a CLI. We aim for 99.9% monthly uptime on paid plans.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials and API keys confidential. You must not use the service for unlawful activity, to host content you do not have the right to index, or in any way that interferes with other tenants.

3. Your content

You retain all rights to the documents and queries you send us. You grant us a limited license to process them solely to deliver the service. We do not use your content to train models or share it with anyone outside our sub-processors.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) attempt to bypass quotas or rate limits; (b) probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service without prior written consent; (c) reverse-engineer the service for the purpose of building a competing product; (d) host illegal content, malware or content that infringes third-party rights.

5. Billing

Paid plans renew monthly. You authorize us to charge your payment method via Stripe. If a payment fails, we will retry per Stripe's standard schedule; if it ultimately fails, we may suspend the service. Refunds are issued on a case-by-case basis for service failures attributable to us.

6. Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from the customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You can request export of your data at any time before final deletion.

7. Service changes

We may add, remove or modify features. Breaking API changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance. We will not retire a stable, documented endpoint without an equivalent replacement.

8. Warranties & liability

The service is provided "as is". We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your use of the service in violation of these terms or applicable law, including claims related to content you index.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to cure, except for violations that pose immediate harm to other tenants or to the service.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction]. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located there.

12. Contact & changes

For questions or notices, use the console. We will notify you in-product before any material change to these terms.
